Kanako Valencia Suda
Kanako Valencia Suda coordinates programs to help ESL students improve their oral communication skills at the Listening and Speaking Center, a part of the Student Success Department at De Anza College. She is also an adjunct ESL instructor at the same college. She has a Master’s degree in TESOL from San Jose State University.
Olya Sukhanova teaches at Q International in San Diego, California, where she has also conducted teacher training. Olya has a B.A. in Linguistics and Pedagogy of Foreign Languages and an M.A. in English. She has also taught at Moscow Linguistic University and TSU in Texas.

Rameshor is an ESL instructor at the English Language Program at Cal State LA, Los Angeles Southwest College, and Los Angeles Trade-Technical College. He earned his MA in TESOL from CSULA and a Master’s in English in Nepal. He started taking interest in NNLEI issues as a grad student at CSULA.
San Diego Regional Representative
Lety Banks is a teacher trainer at the American Language & Culture Institute at California State University San Marcos. With a M.A. in TESOL, she has worked in Intensive Academic English for over 10 years as an instructor, teacher trainer, and program administrator. In 2011, Lety served an English Language Fellowship in Chile for the U.S. Department of State, and she continues to be a teacher trainer for international pre-service and in-service English teachers. She has conducted teacher training in Africa, China, Mexico, Brazil, & Chile. Her academic interests include teacher preparation and education, NNEST issues, and mentoring and leadership in the TESOL field.
Khulan Zagd graduated from National University of Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar and is a graduate student of TESOL at CSU, San Bernardino. Her experience includes working as an ESL tutor at Chaffey College, an interpreter/translator at the Asian-American Resource Center, a translation editor for the National Geographic Mongolia magazine and an intern at the National Museum of the United States Navy in Washington D.C. She volunteers for the Inland Empire Russian community, organizing events for Russian-speaking children and adults. Khulan has been awarded CATESOL Education Foundation Stipend and Rick Sullivan Stipend.
Monica is an ESL instructor in the IEP at IIS Mission College, Santa Clara. She earned a B.A. in English with a minor in German language and literature in Italy, and a double Master’s in Linguistics and TESOL at SJSU. She developed a standing interest in NNLEI matters as a grad student, and while working as a tutor at the Language Development Center at SJSU.
